This leading international retailer is looking to appoint a Deputy General Counsel to its UK business and provide wide ranging legal support and advice to its group of high street brands.
About the Opportunity
As the lead lawyer for the UK business, you will lead both the legal team and the legal function for the company’s brands. You will be part of the leadership teams for all the brands under your responsibility and you will advise, lead and guide senior executives and the wider business on complex and business critical matters. You will lead the team on partnering with the business, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, managing risk and supporting a culture of integrity.
Managing a team of 7, you will lead the team on working closely with matters prevalent and particular to the retail sector including marketing, branding, omnichannel selling, consumer regulations, packaging and pricing matters.
About You
This is a varied position and will suit an individual with strong retail experience who can navigate the twists and turns of the retail sector. Management experience is also essential, with a demonstrated ability to lead and guide a team and a legal function being key. Experience working with a large consumer brand is likely to be fundamental – this is a large and complex international business and is likely to best suit an individual who can navigate complexities of this nature, whilst also being collaborative and collegiate and reinforcing ethical behaviour and responsibility across the business. The ability to foster excellent working relationships across various brands is also key.
